Dentures & Partial Dentures
A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile. Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years, but may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear. There are two types of dentures - complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting. A complete denture may be either conventional or œimmediate. A conventional type is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, usually taking 4 to 6 weeks. During this time the patient will go without teeth. Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments will have to be made.

Mouthguards
Recommended to protect the jaw and teeth during physical activity and sports such as boxing, football, basketball, or other activities where your mouth may get hit. In addition, these guards protect the soft tissues of your tongue, lips and cheek lining. "According to the American Dental Association, more than 200,000 oral injuries are prevented annually in this country by sports mouthguards"… For example, in basketball where mouthguards are not worn, 34% of all injuries involve teeth and/or the oral cavity.
Nightguards
Recommended for patients who clench or grind their teeth at night as a way to protect their teeth and bite. If you have decided a guard is right for you, the dentist will take an impression of your teeth which will then be sent to a lab to make a custom fit guard for you. In most cases you can choose from a variety of colors and styles for your guard. On average, guards last between 3 and 10 years. Custom designed mouthguards and nightguards are made of flexible plastic and molded to fit the shape of your teeth.
Diagnodent
This is an exciting new dental technology that allows Dr. Chang to detect any cavities in your teeth. The use of this small portable laser unit allows the doctors to find these cavities in their infancy, well before the doctor could detect them on x-rays or visually. The addition of this technology to our practice helps you to keep your teeth healthy and minimizes your need for future, extensive dental treatment.
